Holmen Madrid Mill Shutdown by Strike

Holmen, Stockholm, Sweden, reports that since Tuesday morning this week (April 26), its Madrid, Spain operations have been affected by a strike. The strike has forced the mill to shutdown production and stop deliveries to customers.

strike, set to continue today (Thursday) and Saturday of this week, is related to the company's announced closure of PM 61, which affects approximately 170 employees. Production on the machine stopped in late March.

PM 61 has a capacity of 170 000 metric tpy, equating to almost 10% of the business area's production capacity. The machine produced coated magazine paper (LWC) as well as improved newsprint to a lesser extent.
