McLeland Named VP, Human Resources for Sonoco

Sonoco, Hartsville, S.C., USA, this week promoted Allan McLeland to VP, Human Resources, effective January 1. McLeland will replace Cindy Hartley, SVP, Human Resources, who is retiring effective March 1.

In his new position, McLeland will have global responsibility for the company's Human Resources efforts, including staffing, organizational development, diversity, employee relations, compensation, and benefits. Prior to this appointment, McLeland was staff VP of Human Resources, Industrial, and has held several leadership positions within the company Human Resources Department, each with progressively more responsibility, in the areas of organizational development, staffing, employee relations, and compensation. Before joining Sonoco in 1993, McLeland worked in human resources management with Marriott Corp. in Columbia, S.C.
