DuPont Titanium Technologies, Wilmington, Del. USA, has introduced a new high performance titanium dioxide grade for the laminates industry. The company notes that Ti-Pure® R-796+ titanium dioxide pigment "maximizes process flexibility and provides superior performance across a variety of decorative paper types and papermaking chemistries," adding that the new grade "delivers a highly desirable combination of opacity, light stability, and high brightness together with consistent quality."

Guclu Turkoglu, global segment manager for DuPont Titanium Technologies' laminates business, explains that "through discussions with customers, we learned that there was a need for a higher performance titanium dioxide. Ti-Pure R-796+ delivers benefits at all levels of the laminates value chain, including furniture and flooring consumers, who appreciate the higher quality and durability of laminate products." DuPont Titanium Technologies operates U.S. plants at DeLisle, Miss., New Johnsonville, Tenn., and Edge Moor, Del., as well as plants at Altamira, Mexico, and Kuan Yin, Taiwan, all of which use the chloride manufacturing process. The company also operates a mine in Starke, Fla.
