Temple-Inland Lays Off N.J. Box Plant Workers

Temple-Inland, Austin, Texas, USA, has reportedly laid off 17 workers at its Garden City, N.J., box plant. Although the company has not confirmed or denied the layoffs, Eric Depperschmidt, Finney County Economic Development Corp. president, has been quoted as saying that the layoffs resulted from the loss of a major account earlier this year.
The Garden City plant's 60 employees convert sheets of corrugated containerboard to boxes.
Temple-Inland has 11,000 employees at 83 locations throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico. It is the third-largest corrugated packaging producer in North America.
