Market Pulp Remains Tight, Prices Rise

The global pulp market remains tight, Wilde notes. Reports suggest that N.A. NSBK prices are set to rise by another $40/metric ton in May. This would take N.A. NBSK prices to the highest ever level in nominal terms. In Europe, producers have set NBSK at $960-$970/metric ton for May. With recently announced initiatives, fluff pulp prices are set to rise $20-$40/ton in both the U.S. and Europe, pushing prices to over $1,000/metric ton, Wilde says.
