Stora Enso, Finland, is launching a new Ensocoat SBS board for high-end packaging. The board is produced according to a "new recipe" that provides improved whiteness, brightness, smoothness, and unique printability on both the top and reverse sides, the company says.

"The development of new Ensocoat shows our strengthened focus and dedication to the highest end of packaging, such as cosmetics, perfumes, and exclusive chocolate, wine and spirit brands. Ensocoat used to be the challenger in these segments, but now we are reaching for the top," says Hervé Vue, sales director France, Stora Enso Carton Board. "In a tough economic situation, brand owners are looking for options. We have responded to this demand by putting all of our effort into the development of new Ensocoat. We are pleased with the results and enthusiastic to be going to the market with the product." In addition to the quality upgrade, Stora Enso is developing its brand portfolio by introducing Ensocoat 2S instead of the former Ensogloss. "Ensocoat 2S has all the same advantages as the new Ensocoat, but on both sides," Hervé Vue says. Ensocoat's grammage range is: Ensocoat 170-380 gsm, Ensocoat 2S 190-500 gsm. The board is produced on Board Machine 2 at Stora Enso's Imatra Mills, Finland.
