Luke Paper Installing Two New Headboxes at Maryland Mill

Luke Paper Co., a subsidiary of NewPage Corp., has already installed one of two new StableFLO headboxes for its L-8 and L-9 paper machines at its Luke, Md., USA, paper mill. Paperchine, Rockton, Ill. USA, supplier of the new headboxes, notes that the StableFLO system was designed specifically to limit CD variability and improve other properties at Luke. Installation on L-8 machine was done this past October, and the L-9 headbox will be installed in the first half of next year. The mill has a production capacity of 520,000 tpy of paper and 410,000 tpy of kraft pulps.
