The Education Committee is presenting a very exciting Grab & Go event on Wednesday, February 22, titled "The Best of Sales – Taking your Sales Ability to the Next Level." This fast paced interactive session will cover everything from the sales process to the steps we all take every day in communicating and selling our position, product or service. Three supplier sales professionals will facilitate the session and help bring the entire sales process to life:

  • Doug Baarnam, senior vice president/team director for ConferenceDirect will facilitate the Maryland session, which will be held at the University of Maryland Riggs Alumni Center.
  • Dave Fritz, national account manager for CORT Furniture will facilitate the DC session, which will be held at the Destination DC headquarters.
  • Ed Brown, director of sales for American Audio Video will facilitate the Virginia session, which will be held at the offices of Experient, Inc.

Regardless of whether or not your job description includes a specific sales role, sales skills are a very key component in enhancing the personal and professional life of any industry professional. This session will help you understand the process and start developing the confidence necessary to organize, present, handle objections and close.

This experience is part of our complimentary member-only PMPI lunch series Grab and Go, which is specially designed for PMPI members who want to acquire useable up-to-date information and ideas, but have time and budget constraints. Each Grab and Go is an informal conversation on current issues, hot topics and exciting ideas affecting and influencing today’s meeting industry, so bring your lunch along as you spend an information-filled hour with your industry colleagues. Grab some new ideas and Go back to your office ready to take on the meeting world!

Thank you all again for the great response we had to the call for nominations for the 2nd quarter Star Awards.

As you know by now, our 2nd Quarter winner was Jason Wooten.

The Star Award Committee is now calling for 3rd quarter nominations. We challenge each and every one of you to help surpass the nominations efforts from last quarter!

There is a lot going on at PMPI, so we know you know someone who deserves recognition. Third quarter nominations are due by Thursday March 15th.

Please give it some thought and nominate YOUR star today! To learn more about the program please click here.

This year the Community Outreach Committee has partnered with Martha’s Table of DC to help make a positive difference.

We have set up an opportunity for you to help! Come join your generous fellow PMPI members in helping those in need as we prepare a community Sunday lunch on April 1st, 2012. We need volunteers for a two hour time slot between the hours of 11 am-3 pm. Volunteers will be onsite at Martha’s Table headquarters, located near 14th and U Street, NW in DC.

We are proud to be helping such an amazing organization. On any given day, 12,000 of DC's children, families and individuals are homeless or in need of food. The food program meets immediate needs by providing more than 600,000 nutritious meals per year. Martha’s Table provides meals to the homeless 365 days a year at various sites throughout the city, as well as meals to senior shut-ins and community holiday meals.

Unable to be "hands on" at the event? You can still help!! We are looking for food donations to supply Martha’s Table with everything they need for the dinner. Time and donations are much appreciated as we help join together to make our community an even greater place. Those who are interested in volunteering or donating food items, please contact committee member Morgan Giddings at morgan@lauthorities.com   or (202) 204-0055.

Every PMPI member who recruits a new member during this campaign will be entered into a drawing to win a trip to New Orleans (courtesy of The Gulf States Chapter of MPI).  The new members recruited will also have their names put into the drawing for a chance to win!

Please ask the new member to list the recruiter MPI Member ID upon registration to be confirmed for this campaign and drawing!
