It will be a night to get out your costumes and candy bags for our chapter’s first networking event of the fall season. Halloween will be in the air that night, so who knows what could happen! Make a splash with your best Halloween attire. If you’re not comfortable wearing costume, just come as yourself. All attending will make this a fabulous evening!

The event will be at the elegant Sofitel Lafayette Square, a beautiful luxury hotel that is just blocks from the White House. Built on an updated historic landmark, our evening’s sponsor is the perfect location for our Halloween Bash. The evening promises to be another wild and memorable PMPI event – so click here and don’t miss out!

MACE 2012: Putting the Pieces into Place

Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center

February 10, 2012

No matter where you are in your career, everyone is looking to advance to the next level. How do you start pulling all of your strategies together to make that next move? This year, MACE is focusing on helping our members by providing the pieces of the puzzle and putting everything into place for a successful career. Through educational tracks, interactive sessions, the Flipped Marketplace and time for networking, every attendee will take home a new skill or a new business relationship they can apply to their own life and career.

Join MACE as either a planner or supplier with appointments at our Flipped Marketplace. Find the suppliers you need or the planners you have wanted to meet. The Elite Meetings upgraded online appointment tool will make sure you make the right connections.

MACE is making sure you get the highest quality education in the industry. Education topics include: Marketing Essentials, High End Meetings on a Small Budget, Hot Trends and Menu Planning, Hybrid Meetings, Strategic Planning, Emergency Protocols and AV tips. All sessions will include real-world examples and templates to take back. Continue to check online for the most up-to-date educational information. Make sure to take it back to the office! Once again PMPI is partnering with CadmiumCD to provide audio recordings and presentations for all MACE breakout sessions. You won’t miss a thing via Cadmium’s online presentation database.

New for this year is a hands-on computer lab, sponsored by SmartSource. These lab sessions will focus on Microsoft Word and Excel at multiple levels. We have teamed up with one the best educators in the computer industry who is creating specialized sessions just for the meeting industry. These sessions will fill up quickly, so be sure to add this to your registration.

MACE is adding an interactive mobile application, courtesy of CrowdCompass. This app will allow you to stay on top of your game during the event. Look out for future MACE announcements so you can download the app and begin your next move!

Save the date now! Look for more information coming soon - registration will open in mid-November.

Business is changing and the people who are successful are leading the change and not playing catch-up. In this session Paul Bridle, who researches effective organizations and the people who lead them, will share with us his insights to a changing world and how we can keep ahead. He will share some of his insights and give valuable tips on growing and maintaining a successful business in a changing world. He will give tips to planners trying to increase attendance, awareness and revenue, as well as suppliers trying to build clientele and yield higher returns.

Come and find out:

1. How the meeting business is evolving?

2. What is the leadership style needed?

3. Where you need to focus to stay ahead?

If you missed your chance to sign up for the first session and you are planning to sit for the January 2012 Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Examination, you won't want to miss this Cramming and Jamming Session.

Starting on Nov. 2, this five-week course will take place at the Executive Conference Center at Liberty Sqaure in Arlington, VA each Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In addition to learning more about the CMP exam and receiving test-taking tips, this study course will focus on the traditionally more complex sections including Budget, Risk Management, Site Selection, Contracts, Insurance, AV and Technology, Exhibits and Convention Service Communication and Functions.

If you are interested in signing up for this course and want more information, please email info@pmpi.org.

You’ve all seen COC members donning green aprons and selling raffle tickets at PMPI events, and chances are you’ve also had to pass on a raffle ticket because you didn’t have any cash in your wallet. Now there’s another way to help, and no donation is too small. Look for the COC’s Power of Change collection jar at event registration and you can make a donation of any amount. The funds raised through the Power of Change will be added to PMPI’s overall donation to our charity of the year, Martha’s Table. It’s a great, feel-good way to get rid of all those pesky pennies!

Also, the COC is excited to start work with another charity, Clean the World. Attendees of WEC likely know Clean the World as one of MPI’s partner charities, and PMPI is eager to get the program going in the DC area. Clean the World is an organization that collects and recycles used soap and shampoo products. The recycled items are then distributed to impoverished communities throughout the world to help stop the spread of disease. To help with this program, please contact Jessica LaVay at simplyyours.lavay@gmail.com.
