Social Media tools can help you increase your attendance, save time and pose minimal impact on your marketing budget. But how? If you think this is just your average social media session – think again!

Join us on September 23, 2010, as we hear from Patrick O’Malley who will discuss just how social media can be one of your strongest tools. Patrick will teach us how to effectively use social media outlets. He will not only teach us how to use them professionally, but he’ll also throw in a few fun personal approaches as well. Don’t miss hearing this great speaker discuss this overwhelmingly popular topic as it relates directly to the meetings industry.

Want to learn more about being involved in PMPI? A special member orientation will take place at 3:00 p.m. prior to the Learning Experience Program to help acclimate you to the organization. Please join us for orientation and learn how to maximize your involvement with the association.

If you have ever thought about (ad)venturing out and becoming an Independent meeting planner, then you won’t want to miss this webinar!

Join us on Thursday, October 7, as we listen to the roller coaster of a ride that experienced planner Alan L. Kleinfeld, CMM, CMP, has endured after nearly a decade as an "independent."

Come get tips on starting and running a business and learn the DOs and DONTs of that dog-eat-dog world. This session is recommended for intermediate to advanced level planners.

We will be discussing the ins and outs of Volunteer Management. For more information, please log on to PMPI’s website at www.pmpi.org. Grab your lunch on the way, join the discussion and go back to your office with new ideas. You never know what you’ll learn at lunch!

Also, be on the lookout for more information regarding the September and November PMPI Learning Experiences! Details coming soon....

To prepare for the exam, mark your calendar to sign-up for the fall CMP exam prep study group. The 10-week study session will begin on Tuesday, October 12, and continue every Monday thereafter from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Information about location and fees will be sent out via Cvent once confirmed.

The Community Outreach Committee will be collecting items to Stock the Pantry at The Children’s Inn at NIH.

Please provide nonperishable items such as:

  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Soups
  • Individual boxes of cereal
  • Rice
  • Kids snack items
  • New kitchen supplies such as spoons spatulas, mixing bowls, and pots and pans are also needed.

The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health is a residential "place like home" for sick children and their families. Children come from across the country and around the world to stay together with their families in The Inn’s healing environment while receiving groundbreaking medical treatments at the NIH, the world’s leading biomedical research center. While the NIH takes care of the child’s medical needs, The Inn tends to the child’s heart, soul and spirit.

Do you ever marvel at how one manages to ascend the ladder from planner to executive director? How one is promoted from sales coordinator to sales manager? How to develop into a flawless presenter and public speaker? How to decipher the inner workings of negotiations and secure that next sale? Or how to navigate through the meeting & event industry labyrinth to advance your career? What’s the BIG secret?

If these thoughts have ever crossed your mind, then we invite you to the world of MACE! 2011, where all the "secrets" are out.

When: February 14 & 15, 2011
Where: Gaylord National, National Harbor, MD

This organization has many needs and offers many opportunities for us to partner with them in the coming year.

To find out more about The Children’s Inn at NIH, please visit their website,
www.childrensinn.org.

The Children's Inn at NIH is a private, nonprofit, family-centered residence established to keep children together with their families while the children participate in ground-breaking medical research for serious illnesses at the NIH. There is no charge for a family to stay at The Inn.

Since opening in June of 1990, The Inn has hosted more than 10,000 families from all 50 states and 74 countries. The Inn has the capacity to house up to 59 families per night. In fiscal year 2008, 1,400 children and their families called The Inn home.

These young patients range in age from birth to young adulthood. They face medical challenges such as cancer, heart, lung, growth and blood diseases and mental disorders that lack successful treatment and are only researched and treated at NIH.

Stayed tuned for more details on how PMPI will support this charity throughout the year!!
