ABM INDIGENOUS: EAST 2019

ABM began as Aboriginal Business Match in 2012 with a mission to connect First Nations with mainstream business opportunities to support self-determination and economic reconciliation – and that remains the cornerstone of their business. They have created unique technology that pre-qualifies applicants within micro-networks for specific events, providing a safe, effective and targeted environment for communities and businesses to find partners for projects. From one event in 2012 they now hold six annually, in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. They boast an incredibly well-established and reputable curated network of hundreds of Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and businesses from across Canada.

At ABM, Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and businesses come together to explore opportunities. These opportunities are built upon genuine, mutually-respectful relationships, and ABM provides the perfect platform for those relationships to begin and develop. 

Here’s how it works:

  1. For each event, a call-out is sent to the network of interested Indigenous communities and non-Indigenous businesses. Applicants register their desire to attend. 
  2. The ABM team analyses their application to ensure their projects and people are qualified, viable and can provide effective results and relationships. 
  3. The successful applicants then begin business-matching online, in ABM’s custom, private network hub.

They choose up to 31 appointments that will take place at the event itself, on the trade show floor. These face to face appointments take place in 20-minute increments and are designed to move the online conversation to the next stage. With a relationship initiated, these conversations can then become specific projects and alliances.

This highly efficient and targeted form of lead generation eliminates geographic barriers, reduces costs, and creates connections that would otherwise not happen. It is a highly efficient way to connect commercial interests and drive economic growth.

ABM delegates return year after year, and often attend events across the country. This is due to the invaluable relationships and collaborations that take place each time. In 2017, two out of ten delegates left ABM with a concrete deal in place, and seven out of ten expected to close deals as a result of their attendance.
