Dig Safe: Construction Safety in the GTA

This Dig Safe event is an opportunity for the City of Toronto and the Excavating Community to come together to:
- Develop a collaborative and respectful atmosphere to reduce damages;
- Reduce direct costs including damage repairs and restoration of service;
- Reduce indirect societal costs, including, injury or death, traffic disruption, diversion of valuable emergency services, environmental impacts, economic impacts, etc.;
- Maintain integrity of essential services including vital municipal and utility infrastructure;
- Protect communities from threats to health and security;
- Develop Dig Safe networking contacts; and,
- Promote information sharing.
As the City of Toronto continues to hold Health and Safety in the highest regard, we invite opening remarks to be made by Deputy Mayor Denzil Minnan-Wong, as well as Matthew Pegg, Fire Chief & General Manager, Toronto Fire Services.
In addition, the City will host a plenary panel presentation, as scheduled below.
The City of Toronto strongly encourages all contractors, subcontractors and other interested parties to attend this important event to support the Dig Safe initiative to mitigate risks to workers, the public and infrastructure.
