OSTA Welcomes Budget Commitment for Apprenticeship Modernization Consultation

"Ontario has a tremendous opportunity to become a leader in skilled training outcomes in North America," said OSTA Chair, Joe Vaccaro. "While these investments are welcome, it is also important that government reviews the effectiveness of ongoing investments to make the training experience accessible for all Ontarians and develops the skills for the jobs of tomorrow. OSTA hopes that this review will improve pathways to success for individuals wanting a career in the skilled trades. Ultimately our shared goal is to create the best training and apprenticeship system in North America."

"OSTA welcomes the new budget and hopes the review will remove roadblocks for apprentices and provide more opportunities for small business to be engaged," said Vaccaro, adding, "The Ministry has a tremendous opportunity to hear from apprentices, employers and unions about how our system works and how it could be improved. We expect the Ministry will be engaging all areas of the province so that they understand the diversity of the training and apprenticeship experience in rural and northern Ontario, not just the GTA."
