Safety Week - Members are Planning for Safety

HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS:

Alberici Constructors is holding 4 events in the month of May, where they are encouraging each of their sites to demonstrate what leadership means to them, and creatively explain what makes their jobsites the safest.

-May 3 – Burlington

-May 8 – Humber

-May 11 – GTAA

-May 16 – Toronto Island

Ball Construction is conducting a site celebration on May 4 at their Webster Place in Fergus, Ontario, where their theme is "Let’s get back to basics." They will conduct an overview with all workers of the most commonly used PPE, while briefing their workers on their ongoing efforts in achieving COR. Each worker will be asked to make a pledge and commitment to workplace safety by signing the Ball Construction League of Champions Jersey. Ball will also be launching a "Best Practice" campaign for 2017, where workers nominate each other for performing tasks above the basic or required safety level (where someone rocked it out and made safety their priority).

Eastern Construction is "targeting safety" at their Halton Regional Police Headquarters in Oakville at the newly built police training facility’s shooting range on May 2.

On May 5 and 6, EllisDon will be holding its EllisDon Hockey Tournament raising funds to support the Threads of Life Charity, a not for profit association dedicated to supporting families who have lost a loved one after a workplace fatality. The event will be held at Trio Sportsplex in Vaughan. Come see teams battle it out on the ice all in the name of charity. For more details, contact Dan Fleming at dfleming@ellisdon.com

GEN-PRO announced that they will be holding an event related to safety among their employees. Their details are currently being finalized for a potential date of Friday, May 5.

On May 5, Grand Valley Construction Associationis hosting an Open House Barbeque for all GVCA members with the focus on Safety. GVCA will be creating and delivering short video clips with a new safety message each day for the week of May 1-5.

PCL Constructors Canada will host an event on May 2 with Rob Ellis to kick-off their celebration of OGCA Safety Month, and is proud to strengthen the industry safety culture with a series of events throughout the month of May, including active participation in NAOSH (North American Occupational Safety and Health) Week, and Safety Week. Walsh Canada will be holding multiple events throughout the month of May. Highlights include:

-Monday, May 1 – Etobicoke General Hospital Breakfast | Rob Ellis and Kevin Flynn are guest speakers and they have a lunch at their CFB Borden site.

-Tuesday, May 2 – Ashbridges Bay lunch | Site will hold a safety event

-Wednesday, May 3 lunch at Credit Valley Hospital | Guest Speaker George Gritziotis will be there to speak to workers on the importance of workplace safety.
