New York State February existing-homes sales down slightly from a year ago

New York State February 2011 home sales decreased by 3.1 percent from February 2010, while also falling below January's total, according to preliminary single-family sales data accumulated by the New York State Association of REALTORS. The statewide median sales prices continued to trend upward.

New York REALTORS sold 4,020 existing single-family homes in New York State during February 2011, a 3.1-percent decrease compared to the February 2010 sales total of 4,149, and 12-percent behind January's 4,538 total.

The February 2011 statewide median sales price of $245,000 represents an increase of 13.4 percent compared to the February 2010 median of $225,000, while posting an 8.9-percent increase from December 2010.
