U.S. Commerce Department: Northeast housing starts and building permits rise in July

Privately-owned housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted rate of 144,000 for the Northeast, up 44 percent from June, according to data released by the U.S. Commerce Department. Building permits for the Northeast also rose in July, increasing 18.8 percent to 120,000.
