Steve Bluestone, a partner of The Bluestone Organization, an 88-year-old NYC Real Estate Development, General Contracting and Property Management firm based in New York City, will present his experiences building with concrete as a keynote speaker at ConcreteWorks, Monday, September 19, from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. Mr. Bluestone has led his firm’s efforts to produce some of the most energy efficient buildings in the New York metropolitan area. Using "off the shelf components," the firm has successfully constructed buildings with record low energy consumption at no extra cost. A significant component of the firm's success has come through its adoption in 2008 of insulated concrete forms (ICFs) for all the exterior walls of its buildings (from single story homes to 16-story mixed use apartment buildings). The firm has increased the levels of resiliency and sustainability of its buildings while simultaneously lowering, by a significant factor, its construction and long-term operating costs. Several of its current and upcoming projects are targeting Passive House certification, one of the most rigorous energy standards.

As a supporting element in the Build with Strength campaign, NRMCA supports developers to make the transition to building with concrete through its Concrete Design Center. Visit www.BuildwithStrength.com for details.
