Asphalt or Concrete: Las Vegas Road Paving Choices Colored by Money

In a December 21 transportation roundup article, a reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal takes a crack (no pun intended...) at the asphalt vs. concrete roads issue. A Transportation Department spokesman said the choice is usually based on cost, and that colors are indicative of ingredients — a reddish road means volcanic rock is mixed in, and a bluish or white-tinted road means granite is mixed in.
