News From National
Help the industry by getting involved

NPMA is reaching out to the industry in Georgia to encourage them to vote in the January 5th runoff that will determine control of the Senate. This election will determine what the Senate looks like for the next two years.

NPMA has already fought multiple bills this year like the Neguse bill, which would ban pesticides, totally dismantle preemption in all 50 states, and mandate that the EPA no longer incorporate the benefits of the products in risk determinations. This would be a huge blow to our industry. Activist groups will be pushing this bill, and others like it, so it is essential we elect members of Congress who understand how important our industry is to the protection of public health. It is easy to imagine this bill in an evenly split Senate, and others like it passing to President Biden’s desk.

Digital misinformation is becoming more prevalent with the widespread use of social media. At any given time, you may log onto Facebook or Twitter and see "the invasive kissing bug", "miracle ant cures", or “homemade insect repellent”. There is a lot of information to sort through and it’s tough to figure out what is accurate or misleading. In this day and age especially, we need to remain vigilant and educated on how to use social media responsibly for science and science communication. Learn how to determine what’s a tall tale and find reliable sources so that you can have accurate information to tell your customers the next time they come across an alarming, not-true story.
