National Pest Management Association

The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), today released the results of its 2018 Bugs Without Borders survey to educate consumers about bed bugs during Bed Bug Awareness Week, June 3-9. With 97 percent of U.S. pest professionals reporting they have treated for bed bugs in the past year, PPMA is leading the charge for public vigilance with the launch of various media relations and social media campaigns. Industry members are encouraged to join the cause by devoting their company social media pages to bed bugs during Bed Bug Awareness Week and using the hashtag #BedBugWeek on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. The toolkit, available for download on PPMAMainframe.org, contains a customizable press release, suggested social media content, Bed Bug Awareness Week logos, high resolution photography, media training documents and a list of video content that can be directly embedded on a company’s website. For more information about PPMA and its marketing programs or to subscribe to Mainframe, please visit http://www.NPMApestworld.org/PPMA.

News From National

NPMA has notified members about a so-called credentialing association named “National Pest Management Professional Association” or “NPMPA.” That “association” is not affiliated with the National Pest Management Association (“NPMA”) in  any manner. The names “National Pest Management Professional Association” and “NPMPA” are likely intended to create confusion with NPMA, whose trademarked name is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and thereby mislead pest control companies and their customers in violation of trade mark law 15 U.S.C. §§1051 et seq. NPMA is exploring its legal options. Meanwhile, please let us know immediately if you are contacted by anyone claiming to represent the “National Pest Management Professional Association” or “NPMPA,” or become aware of any pest control company using either of those phrases in its advertising.

NPMA is joining the Federation of Asian & Oceania Pest Managers Association (FAOPMA), Chinese Pest Control Association (CPCA) and the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA) in support of World Pest Day on June 6. Join us in recognizing the vital role that pest control professionals play in protecting public health, food and property from pests. Q: I have a commercial customer with a large atrium inside the building.  I have collected multiple immature cockroaches that appear to be oriental cockroaches, but the adults I’ve seen have tan wings. The roaches seem to be living in the planters and mulched areas inside the atrium.  Any ideas what they are?
