Q: One of our commercial accounts is an office building that has had a reoccurring problem with little brown beetles. the adults are about 2.0 mm long with the head and thorax narrower than the abdomen. they only seem to show up on the top floor. i thought this may be a pantry pest, so I instructed the client to seal or remove all dried foods to eliminate potential breeding sites. however, the infestation has not gotten any better. Where should I go from here?

The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and our sponsor BedBug Central, will host the bi-annual Global Bed Bug Summit November 27-29, 2018 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado.

The three-day conference features new research from the top bed bug experts worldwide. The meeting boosts the largest trade floor dedicated to bed bug products and services for pest control companies. In addition, the “Night Out with the Experts,” networking event is back by popular demand.

NPMA’s Vice President of Conventions and Meetings Alexis Wirtz said, “NPMA is proud to partner once again with BedBug Central on the Global Bed Bug Summit and provide the industry with a world-class conference experience,” Wirtz said. “You can expect to get everything you know and love about the Global Bed Bug Summit, and so much more,” said BedBug Central CEO Phillip Cooper. “We’re adding some cool new things this year to make it even better than the last Summit!”

AB 2422, a bill that would ban all anticoagulant rodenticides in California was withdrawn by the author moments before the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee was set to consider the legislation! Hundreds of meetings, grassroots pressure, and a steadfast determination to protect public health engendered this outcome.

A special thanks to the Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC) and their 150+ Legislative Day attendees who stormed the Capitol in Sacramento and communicated the special need for federally and state approved rodenticides and their vital role in protecting public health. Additionally, the PCOC membership and allies sent over 450 grassroots messages to their CA Assemblymembers and hundreds of additional letters to members of the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee.

Lastly, we want to also thank the countless member companies, strategic partners, registrants, and allied organizations who banded together and worked tirelessly to defeat this bill.

NPMA offers Cancer-only indemnity insurance through Transamerica Life Insurance company. Good medical insurance helps, but is it enough? While some individuals diagnosed with cancer have meaningful and adequate health insurance to pay for most of the cost of treatment, privately insured workers face the prospect of crippling out-of-pocket costs. For your employees that are 18 years old or older, they can purchase this valuable supplemental benefit, and can also chose to insure their eligible family members. This allows your employees to not only have more resources to cope with any future diagnosis of cancer, but also wellness benefits to help detect cancer early.
