McCall Pest Control celebrated the grand opening of its new Technical Training Facility in Newberry, Fla. The first of its kind for McCall, the training facility will offer hands on education to all new and existing employees. The training will focus on pest management, termite control, and bedbug heat remediation. Dr. Phil Koehler and Dr. Faith M. Oi, Entomology professors at UF, along with several local officials was present at the grand opening.

According to Cory Goeltzenleuchter, UF Graduate Entomologist and McCall¹s Training Director, "The Gainesville Training Center was built to be the hub for all instructional classroom training for our company. We are directly geared to offer residential and commercial pest control instruction as well as termite training." The Training Facility will have a classroom that can hold up to 16 employees and a residential kitchen and bathroom for detailed training.

In addition to the building, there is a 500 square foot training concrete slab. This slab has two different types of foundations, an attached slab to simulate a porch, four building construction elements and other various elements for hands on termite treatment and inspection training. ³This facility is one of a kind and will teach methods for both preventative and curative treatments. From microscopes to monitors this facility has what employees need to really learn insect biology and behavior.

"This is an exciting time for our company," says Goeltzenleuchter.
