On October 24, the District of Columbia City Council held a hearing on a bill titled, DC - B580 Pesticide Education and Control Amendment Act of 2016. This bill proposes to amend the definition of a "District restricted use pesticide" by using a different methodology than the EPA currently uses and would require an exemption or emergency exemption when applying a "District restricted use pesticide" to certain designated areas. We are in the process of activating our grassroots base of member companies in the DC metro area as a part of our advocacy strategy.

NPMA is developing a response to submit to the council and will be following up with council members prior to a potential vote in early December. If you are an NPMA member company who operates in Washington DC, and curious about the specifics of this bill and/or would like to assist in the efforts, please don’t hesitate to contact Andrew Bray.
