Approximately 300 construction professionals flocked to Austin, Texas, January 15-17, 2020, for the industry’s foremost annual conference on critical safety and health compliance and risk issues impacting the business of construction. The conference provided educational options for attendees through a mixture of plenary and breakout sessions which cover issues in three broad categories:

• Factoring safety & health concerns into phases of a project
• Expanding your knowledge and skills
The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) will hold its 2020 Construction Safety, Health and Environmental Conference at the Omni Louisville Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky on July 14-16, 2020. AGC extended the call for presentation proposals specifically on environmental issues as well as those cross-over topics that would appeal to a broader audience of Safety, Health & Environmental professionals. Proposals are due by close of business on February 28, 2020.

There are several safety sessions scheduled at AGC of America's 2020 Convention March 9-12, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards judging takes place Saturday, March 7 through Tuesday, March 10, with winners being announced at the safety luncheon on Wednesday, March 11. In addition, several education sessions focusing on safety will be held during the week.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), from 2011 to 2015, the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) reported 220 total crane-related deaths, an average of 44 per year over this 5-year period with 42% of the fatal work injuries taking place in the private construction industry. The data also shows that specialty contractors and heavy and civil engineering construction accounted for the most fatalities involving cranes in private construction. AGC of America is pleased to offer this one-day training program based on OSHA standards and best practices to answer the need for quality training within the industry.
