TRENDS IN TECHNOLOGY

At AGC's 97th Annual Convention in March, the AGC IT Steering Committee will hold three presentations on the following topics: 1) 3D Printing in the Construction Industry, 2) Update on UAVs (Drones) and Best Practices to Know, and 3) Use Cases for BIM and Safety on Project Sites. According to the World Health Organization, just a 5 percent reduction in the average speed can diminish the number of fatal crashes by as much as 3 percent. In-vehicle driver safety technology has been successful in helping large fleet and field service organizations to monitor and manage driver behavior, and subsequently reduce accident rates, vehicle downtime and prevent lost productivity due to road incidents.

It seems like every day there is a news story on the use of drones. Most have a sensational component – whether it is a crash landing on the White House lawn, completing a detailed 3D laser scan of Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer statue, or injuring a hand like pop-star Enrique Iglesias while trying to reach out and catch a drone.
 
The answer to this question for any given company will be determined by what the end goal is for the workflow. An understanding of both will help you determine which to choose.
