That is why we are asking members to take a few minutes to complete the workforce survey that we have prepared. The more people understand the scope, and consequences, of a tight construction labor market, the more likely they are to act on the measures we are promoting to make it easier for school systems, local associations and private firms to establish career and technical education and training programs. The more members who take the survey, the better able we all will be to describe labor market conditions where you operate.
7/16/2018 12:03:37 AM https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018AGCWorkforceSurvey2018 Construction Cost Data Shows Effect of Trade Disputes as Aluminum and Steel Costs Increase https://www.agc.org/news/2018/07/11/construction-cost-data-shows-effect-trade-disputes-aluminum-and-steel-costs-increase
July 2018 -- Top News
Construction costs accelerated again in June, with steep increases for a wide range of building and road construction materials as tariffs against foreign goods come into effect, according to an analysis by AGC of America of new Labor Department data. AGC's Highway and Transportation Division has created a task force to address the use of Unmanned Arial Systems aka drones in civil construction operations. The task force is looking at issues such as: how contractors are using drones in day-to-day operations, what impediments to their use exist, what are best practice recommendations, what technical issues need to be addressed, how can AGC work with FHWA and state DOTs in addressing these concerns. Three members of the task force participated in a national roundtable conference with FHWA, AASHTO, state DOTs and industry representatives in February to discuss how the groups can work together to ensure that no unnecessary impediments are preventing the use of this technology in construction operations from developing. "The overwhelming majority of construction firms are pass-through businesses, meaning the owners pay taxes at the individual rates, not the corporate rate. Gaining traction through content alone is not easy—especially if you want to do more than build awareness. The problem, however, is not that online marketing doesn’t work.
