The cost of materials used in construction rose markedly faster than the price of completed buildings, according to a new analysis of federal producer price data released recently by AGC of America. Association officials cautioned that potential restrictions on the use of imported construction materials threaten to drive up the price of infrastructure, buildings and new homes and apartments.

Infrastructure investment was a major topic of discussion in Washington during the first week on the new Trump Administration with the House, Senate and President Trump each highlighting infrastructure investment as a priority. AGC has provided recommendations to both the administration and Congress for rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure. AGC will work with President Trump and Congress to ensure that any infrastructure plan includes real, dedicated funding for all types of infrastructure, while also encouraging greater private sector investments where appropriate.

Business Tips
The construction industry has made great strides in revolutionizing project-delivery processes — not by just utilizing the latest technology, but by adopting an open and collaborative approach that is much more dependent on working with one another to bring project goals to fruition. And, when project collaboration is successful, the construction team should not only celebrate, but share their methods with other industry colleagues. The Collaboration Chronicles is helping folks do just this by capturing and sharing the results from successful design and construction project collaborations.

Which do you think is more critical to business success...great clients, or great employees? You may feel it’s impossible to value one more highly than the other. In fact, the symbiotic relationship between the two breeds success. Yet, if you compare how most companies handle a prospective candidate, during the interview process, to how they handle a prospective client, during the proposal process, you’ll find a big difference!
