With a new administration and new Congress taking office, the 2017 edition of 9-1-1 Goes to Washington (February 26 - March 1) offers you a unique opportunity to make public safety a priority for our elected and appointed officials. GTW is a interactive forum where you learn about and discuss national 9-1-1 issues and advance those issues on Capitol Hill. This dynamic, hands-on program that provides you with increased knowledge of 9-1-1 and homeland security, legislative and regulatory topics, as well as critical information on the federal government process and how to work with federal policy makers. It is vital, now more than ever, that 9-1-1 professionals become active participants in the governmental process to advance the goals of our profession and industry.

The William E. Stanton Award is NENA's highest honor. It is bestowed upon an individual who has not only excelled in his or her everyday job, but has gone above and beyond to further NENA's goals. Nominations for this prestigious annual award are now open.

NENA has established a scholarship program to honor the commitment of William "Bill" McMurray, ENP, Past President, to the mission of NENA and 9-1-1 education. The scholarship will be awarded for the NENA 2017 Conference & Expo. The scholarship includes conference registration fee and four nights of lodging at a conference hotel (to be determined by NENA upon awarding of scholarship). Travel expenses to and from the conference and meals are not included in this award.

All nominees must be current members in good standing for at least three years; have been employed for at least three years in 9-1-1; be certified Emergency Number Professionals (ENPs); and meet the minimum threshold of membership, leadership, and certification requirements as outlined in the Nomination Form. Nominees for the position of Region Director must reside in the region they wish to represent.

The Emergency Incident Data Document (EIDD) provides a standardized, industry-neutral National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) conformant (XML-based) specifications for exchanging emergency incident information to agencies and regions that implement NG9-1-1 and IP-based emergency communications systems. Emergency incident information exchanges supported by the EIDD include exchanges between disparate manufacturers’ systems located within one or more public safety agencies and with other incident stakeholders.

NENA Standard for NG9‑1‑1 GIS Data Model, NENA-STA-006.1-201X (DRAFT) is available for public review and comment.This standard defines the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Model, which supports NENA Next Generation 9‑1‑1 (NG9‑1‑1) systems of location validation and both geospatial call or dispatch routing. This is the standard to be referenced by GIS practitioners. This model also defines several GIS data layers (layers) used in local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and response agency mapping applications for handling and responding to 9‑1‑1 calls.
