Tuesday, May 22 at 1PM Eastern

Join NENA and Dialogic for this free webinar that discusses how the rollout of NG9-1-1 provides for enhanced capabilities including the delivery of live video from remote locations. The webinar explains how to:
  • Improve coordination by delivering live streams of incidents as they happen.
  • Connect multiple parties to a video conference using standard mobile devices.
  • Enable video calling for the deaf.
  • Deliver video instructions for life-saving interventions in the field.

After almost a decade with NENA: The 9-1-1 Association, Rick Jones, Operations Issues Director, recently announced his retirement. At NENA, Jones managed the development of standards and information documents related to operational issues in Public Safety Answering Points such as call answering times and protocol. NENA CEO Brian Fontes praised Jones, saying, "Rick is deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of PSAP operations, and is an excellent ambassador for the needs of telecommunicators and center managers. His work with the automotive and telematics industries, in particular, has made an immeasurable difference in the quality and quantity of information flowing into PSAPs. He will be sorely missed at NENA, but we wish him a long and happy retirement."

NENA expects to name a successor in the coming months, combining responsibility for operations development and education and training programming. A description of the new position and application instructions are available here.

Congratulations to the forty three 9-1-1 professionals who passed the April 2012 ENP exam and are now certified Emergency Number Professionals! Well done! For more information on how you too can achieve this prestigious professional designation, visit the ENP webpage

On May 14 and May 24, the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) will host webinars focused on the Community-Oriented Connectivity Broadband Grant Program (Community Connect Grant Program).  These webinars will inform participants about the major eligibility and regulatory requirements of the program and will provide detailed guidance on how to submit a successful grant application. There will also be time for participants to ask the speakers specific questions about putting together an application.

Due to the limited amount of room available for each session, interested parties must preregister with the RUS Broadband Division. Seats for each session will be reserved in the order in which requests are received by the RUS.
