COVID-19 and social unrest have resulted in changes to timelines and plans for implementing cloud technology. If this is true for your PSAP, you are not alone. Many PSAPs are considering a move to the cloud sooner than anticipated. The events experienced this year are broad and impactful as we consider the best means to protect our communities in uncertain times. Join us on September 10th as your colleagues share with us how they are implementing new cloud technologies, what benefits they’re experiencing, and what feedback they’re hearing from call takers and dispatchers.

Can't attend on the 10th? Register now and you will have access to the on-demand webinar archive via the registration landing page.

CEUs: Attend this webinar and receive one-half ENP re-certification point toward the six-point maximum for non-NENA courses in the Professional Development CEU/Course Credits section.

Webinar Access Info: Dial-in and web-access details will be provided to attendees via email automatically upon registration.

Document Announcements
The NENA Managing & Monitoring NG9‑1‑1 Information Document provides guidance to 9-1-1 authorities at all levels, and to their vendors, on considerations and best practices for monitoring and managing NG9-1-1 services and infrastructure. The document covers end-state NG9-1-1 deployments and transitional deployments moving toward full NG9-1-1 functionality. This document contains information and advice; it does not contain requirements or specifications. The document is separated into two sections: one for state, province, or regional authorities, and one for responding agency authorities like PSAPs.
The NENA Impact of IoT Devices and Emergency Calling Applications Information Document describes the impact of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and emergency calling applications (Apps) on 9-1-1 and provides crucial instruction to developers of IoT devices and systems so that their implementations are effective in their intended interaction with 9-1-1 services.

In recent years, 9‑1‑1 industry experts have discussed the importance of the role of professional education for the position of telecommunicator. Across North America, programs have emerged in high schools, vocational schools, and colleges in order to find the right people and expose them to what they can expect as a telecommunicator. The NENA Standards for 9‑1‑1 Professional Education document will guide institutions that are developing or have developed 9‑1‑1 professional education programs and ensure consistency with the curriculum by providing the minimum essential elements of a professional telecommunicator training program.

As this is a second review due to substantive changes being made, only the yellow highlighted text is open for comment. You may both download this document and submit your comments here.

All comments are due by August 30, 2020. Contact the NENA Committee Resource Manager with any questions.

The NENA PSAP Readiness for Real-Time Text (RTT) Information Document defines a Standard Operating Procedure model recommendation to establish guidelines for the call handling procedures and identifies areas of training that may be needed with the introduction of RTT.

All others may download the document and submit comments by going here and then select "Add a Comment" from the "Document Actions" icon.

  • Page 51, Line 905: correct Maine to main; or
  • If the correction is within a table, provide the table name and page number of error and specific details of change.

All comments are due by September 11, 2020. You may contact the NENA Committee Resource Manager with any questions or concerns.
