Part of creating a hiring strategy for a more diverse staff is incorporating diversity-related questions into the interview process. For example, both employers and candidates could ask one another about their experience(s) working with others who have backgrounds that are different from their own. They could also talk about what it means to them to have a commitment to diversity, and how that could be developed and applied in the role. Candidates may also want to ask what leadership efforts are put forth to ensure a commitment to diversity and could ask about past diversity challenges at the organization and how they were addressed.
