The Silver Torch Award recognizes a corporation that demonstrates its commitment to the NBMBAA® through partnership activities that increase the NBMBAA’s value and effectiveness and provides equal opportunities for qualified African American professionals within its organization, by hiring, training, retaining and advancing African American talent.

NBMBAA Board Member and Senior Director, Corporate Affairs for Georgia Pacific, Charmaine Ward presented the 2016 Silver Torch Award to Delta Air Lines.Delta has served as a sponsor of the NBMBAA Annual Conference & Exposition for more than 22 years.

Ward pointed out that "In 2016, NBMBAA selected a Harvard University Business Case on Delta Air Lines for its Leaders of Tomorrow National Business Case Competition. With Delta executives on the front line of the competition as judges, they reaffirmed their commitment, by inviting the teams from the competition to their corporate headquarters to deliver their strategic finding and recommendations to company executives. It is this type of commitment, and support that makes Delta Air Lines our 2016 Silver Torch Award winner."
