Walter Bond Shares Lessons Learned Before, During and After NBA

Although his college career did not foreshadow a career in the NBA – he spent all four years on the bench – Bond points to a number of factors that led to his eight-year career with the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. He applied the same lessons to his wildly successful "life after the NBA."

•    Don’t decide on a career until you discover your gift.
•    Work on the fundamentals. Develop rituals and habits that help you become an expert in your industry.
•    Use common sense when speaking to the marketplace. If the market is not responding to your message, "change your rap." In other words, find a message that resonates with your audience.
•    Be confident. Don’t let other people tell you what your worth – let the marketplace evaluate your value.
