By Sheryl S. Jackson

Still hampered by stacks of notes taken with pen and paper – no way to search the documents for information, no way to merge the information with other media, and no way to share with other people?

Dahlia El Gazzar, chief executive officer and founder at The Meeting Pool, identified technologies that make note taking productive, easy and shareable. A few of the apps discussed include:
  • Letterspace is a new app that not only makes writing easier but also enables organization and searches by hashtags linked to words in the information.
  • Livescribe™ uses a smart pen with a notepad to translate handwritten notes into digital format.
  • Adonit produces a stylus pen used to write on a tablet and used across platforms and devices.
  • NotesPlus is an Apple® product that not only turns handwriting into text but also translates into different languages.
  • Notability enables written and recorded notes.
  • Evernote® allows a user to write notes in any media, annotate, download PDFs and recognize handwriting to search notes.
