George L. Anderson, Ph.D., told a captive audience during his "Leveraging Change Acceleration Tools to Drive Growth" morning session yesterday that he could sum up everything he knows about change management in just one sentence. "People do things for their reasons," he affirmed, "not yours."

George began his career at GE Capital in 1992 at the consumer and industrial business and vast experience in organizational development. He began his career in product management, served as marketing and research manager in advertising, taught at the university level and lived outside the U.S. to teach marketing to Austrian small-business owners.

Anderson led an energetic discussion on leadership development and demonstrated how participants can apply the concepts to their organizations. He also focused on change management and the application of a GE tool to a real organizational challenges.

Attendees representing industries throughout the U.S. broke up into groups for an exercise to explore and analyze a case study on the importance of case management. A panel of GE executives also shared their personal career paths in an afternoon workshop followed by a Q & A session.

"His presentation using the GE model was highly effective. They’ve proven that they understand leadership better than anyone else so to get some insight was fantastic," said Michael Brown, a Shell Oil global market consultant. "The valuable takeaway from the session centered around change, how we look at it, understand it and use that foundation to implement change in our work environments."
