During the meeting, members were updated on the organization’s financial health. NBMBAA Board Treasurer John Peoples shared the financial report. He noted "2012 reflects improved outcomes and will set the platform for a strong outlook."

A recent focus has resulted in a different operating model, which includes full implementation of accounting systems, recruitment of new resources, increased emphasis on revenue generation and disciplined expense management. To date, revenues are up and expenses are down.

Members also learned this year’s Career Expo had more than 280 companies and that many jobs were filled on the spot. While the past three years have been challenging for members and corporate partners, the organization continues to work to collaborate with such organizations as Black Enterprise and HBCU Connect to benefit members, said Kim Wilson, NBMBAA acting president and vice president of strategic program initiatives.

"I hope that all of you have had a chance to enjoy the programs and events at this year’s conference and that you found a critical idea or business solution to move your career and business plans forward."

The event also featured the annual passing of the torch from the 2012 Conference host city Indianapolis to the 2013 Conference host city, Houston.
