Sports and entertainment executive Max Siegel, celebrity stylist June Ambrose and attorney Benjamin Crump, who represents the family of Trayvon Martin, were the featured speakers in Thursday afternoon’s Meet the Experts session, Recipe for Success: Passion. Purpose. Profit.

Before becoming CEO of USA Track and Field, Siegel had a groundbreaking role as the African-American president of Global Operations at Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and helped guide the careers of stars like of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Usher during his days as a music industry executive. At every turn in his multifaceted career, he welcomed the chance to make an impact on an industry and an organizational culture, he said.

Ambrose said she was "relentless" in her pursuit of career success, even when some members of her family couldn’t see her freelancing in the fashion world as a "real job."

"I was so committed to winning that I didn’t care about sleep," Ambrose said.
As a lawyer, Crump said he has witnessed how jurors respond favorably to passion in the courtroom. He believes that passion even trumps talent when it comes to success.

Crump also talked about the empathy as a father that compelled him to help Trayvon Martin’s parents bring his killer to justice.

"First of all, it’s an unimaginable loss," he said, "and then to have the system of justice say ‘we’re not going to do anything about it’ is just overwhelming."
