While automakers have been racing each other to become the first to introduce an autonomous vehicle to the road, a new study by AAA found that over three quarters (78 percent) of U.S. drivers are afraid of the idea of riding in a self-driving car. On the other hand, 59 percent of drivers said they would want such technology in their next vehicle. So while they are ready to accept this technology, U.S. drivers are not quite ready to give up full control.

Though a pioneer in battery and hydrogen powertrains beginning with its (now defunct) Insight hybrid in 2000, Honda has had little impact on the electric vehicle market and only sold one battery-powered model in 2016, the Accord Hybrid sedan.
