The Wall Street Journal — Retailers are leasing warehouse space at a record-setting clip, as e-commerce drives companies to locate closer to population centers and keep more products on hand to meet customers' speedy delivery expectations.



Firms leased 70.1 million square feet of industrial space in the second quarter of 2016, the most in over 30 years of data and up 6% from the same quarter last year, real-estate brokerage Cushman & Wakefield Inc. said in a report Monday. In a separate report, brokerage CBRE Inc. said warehouse availability declined for a 25th consecutive quarter to 8.8%.

Bloomberg — The first cargo of liquefied natural gas set to pass through the newly expanded Panama Canal locks will be American.



Royal Dutch Shell Plc's Maran Gas Apollonia vessel is scheduled to pass through the canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on July 25 after loading LNG from the U.S. Gulf Coast, according to the Panama Canal Authority, which oversees the locks' operations. BP Plc's British Merchant LNG tanker is expected to become the second to pass through the canal the following day and a third tanker is slated for early August, the agency said late Monday.

Air Cargo World — Tentative approval for scheduled airline services from ten U.S. cities to Cuba may have implications for air cargo movement between the two countries. The news comes months after the U.S. Airforwarders Association (AfA) urged the country's Department of Transportation (DOT) to assign routes to U.S. airlines that also offer cargo services. Tentative awards have now been granted to Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines.



U.S. DOT has proposed eight U.S. airlines to begin scheduled flights, as early as 3Q2016, between Havana and the following cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York City, Orlando and Tampa.
