The SolutionThe Mecca and Riyadh municipalities along with the Saudi Delta Group partnered with Romanian-based Flashnet SRL to implement the company’s flagship solution, intelliLIGHT®, a complete hardware and software solution for intelligent street lighting remote management. The state-of-the-art street lighting system is fully compatible with the existing electricity grids without the need for additional works. As out-of-the-box compatibility is of key importance in the two city-wide implementations, LONWORKS was the natural choice when it came to open network communication platforms. LONWORKS ensures open communication between disparate devices and systems without the need for gateways and complicated commissioning and servicing. The open technology has a variety of applications, is widely deployed throughout the world, and is supported by hundreds of manufacturers. The ResultsAt the onset of the project, both cities were interested to find a way to know if street lights were not performing, one that did not require driving around and looking at the lights. With the new system, real-time monitoring with alarm notifications provide municipal management with light bulb conditions, energy consumption, energy leakage, and system malfunctions including possible cable disruptions and door access status of lamps and power supply cabinets. The intelliLIGHT lighting control system is modular and scalable. By using the open LONWORKS platform, the system can expand to accommodate new applications and technologies ensuring a future-proof foundation for control. Project ROI
