Container standard network-variable types (SNVTs) as part of a set of requirements for meeting SIL-3 of IEC 61508:

SNVT_safe_1, SNVT_safe_2, SNVT_safe_4, & SNVT_safe_8.

Two new scalar standard network-variable types for supporting absolute mass flow in kg/h (and pounds/h with format conversion) for HVAC applications:

SNVT_mass_flow & SNVT_mass_flow_f.

SNVTs and SCPTs (standard configuration-property types) supporting the new Simple Scheduler for embedded scheduling applications:

SNVT_time_val_2, SNVT_time_offset, SNVT_sched_exc, & SNVT_sched_status and SCPTs: SCPTscheduleSunday...SCPTscheduleSaturday, SCPToccupancyBehavior, SCPTtimeSource, SCPTscheduleException, SCPTscheduleHoliday, SCPTrandomizationInterval, SCPTsunriseTime, SCPTsunsetTime, SCPTschedulerOptions, & SCPToccupancyThresholds.

Plus, the new Simple Scheduler profile (SFPTschedulerSimple).

Pending field vetting, the new v13.20 beta will become the basis for the official, gold release of v14.00; now underway.

LonMark Educational Seminars at AHR Expo 2013

Room D163, Dallas Convention Center

Monday, January 28

9 – 9:50 a.m.     Enterprise App Standard Interface (EASI) Standard

This session will present a model referred to as the Enterprise Application Standard Interface (EASI) where apps are able to consume data from a variety of sub-systems, sub-protocols, in a more interoperable way; without the need for knowing or caring about the data origin. This model is bringing together key organizations such as LonMark International, BACnet International, CABA, EnOcean Alliance, OpenADR Alliance, ZigBee Alliance, and others in a collaborative effort to solve one of the last fundamental interoperability issues left in smart buildings.

10 – 11:15 a.m.  The Power of Profiles

This session will provide an overview of device-function profiling and discuss the importance of this concept in creating interoperable systems.  The session will elaborate on the concept of tightly defined information sharing in a contextual framework that allows integrators to have full control over the customization of a system for their clients -- using off-the-shelf devices from a variety of vendors.  For the client -- the end user -- benefits of interoperability are combined with the standardization of profiled functions for thermostats, air handlers, lights, elevators, smoke alarms, and more.  Attendees will be shown how strong data typing and profiling produce the building blocks for open controls systems.

1:30 - 2:45 p.m.     Optimize Energy Savings with the use of Variable Ventilation Systems

The ventilation system used in kitchens is one of the largest uses of energy in food service facilities. Whether a restaurant is a small free-standing site or a large institutional kitchen, managing and balancing airflow is a complex issue. In this session hear from LonMark members Franke and Engenuity Systems on ways to achieve optimum performance and energy savings with ventilation systems.

3 - 4:15 p.m.      Bringing Together the Smart Grid and Smart Buildings for a Sustainable World

This presentation will examine market and technology trends, advancements involving interoperable systems, and their impact on the complete building envelope. Intelligent and integrated networks allow the freedom of vendor selection enabling customized control solutions that result in exceptional energy, time and money savings.

Tuesday, January 29

9 – 9:50 a.m.      Creating Secure Building Networks

The building industry continues to develop more intelligent and energy efficient buildings but many overlook the potential risk of security attacks on these highly networked control systems. Hear from the experts on how to integrate security procedures that will help secure your network.

10 – 11:15 a.m.    Cloud Computing

Cloud computing addresses many of the issues that have been sore spots for the building automation industry including the cost to maintain, update and upgrade network systems, but there are still concerns regarding data ownership and security. This session will look at the use of cloud computing in the building automation industry and how many systems integrators are developing innovative solutions to help their customers obtain superior systems once available only through considerable capital investment. This discussion will cover the pros and cons of cloud computing, its adoption in the building automation industry, and the security risks.

1:30 – 2:45 p.m.        LonWorks Technology Case Studies

Get a feel for the power of integration and extensive applications during the case study session where attendees will hear highlights of the most successful LonWorks projects throughout the world. Each case study will be recapped in ten minute increments identifying the challenge, solution and final result of the solution.

4 – 5:30 p.m.       Buildings Industry Leadership Organizations Expert Panel Discuss the Future of the Industry, Thought Leadership Q&A Forum

The Building Automation and Controls Market is at a pivotal juncture – either we advance the open systems model or we step backwards 20 years to the proprietary, silo-world of the past. Communities must come together to embrace each other and work together to solve core issues. Systems today utilize a variety of protocols for the core building automation system. This approach allows system integrators and implementers to deliver customized, best-of-breed solutions. This forum will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear from experts from key industry associations including LonMark International, BACnet, CABA, EnOcean Alliance, OpenADR Alliance, and ClimateTalk Alliance. This session will be a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges facing the building automation market today, how as an industry we are collectively addressing the latest trends, and learn what's next for the future of open systems.

Interested in exhibiting in the LonMark ISH booth?

If you want to present your company in the booth, LonMark Germany offers you the opportunity to place your information on a logo column. Each column represents an application or task such as: room automation, HVAC, system integration, etc. Participating members will have a company presentation (logo/product picture) and can provide brochures, catalogues etc to be distributed to visitors. The personal for the booth will be handled by TEMA and LonMark (Martin Mentzel).  Each company that participates should deliver a briefing to help address questions by visitors. If the company also has a larger main booth on the show floor visitors will be guided to this booth. All visitor contact information will be collected at each column and companies participating in the column will receive the contact information for follow up.  The cost for this presentation per company is 1.500 EUR. For more information, please contact scheele@tema.de
