One of the first tasks of our new Board was to approve modifications to the LonMark bylaws, which were recently sent to the LonMark membership for review and approval. Thank you to those of you that took the time to vote to approve modifications to the LonMark International Bylaws. The changes represent the most significant modifications since 2007. One of the biggest changes involves an expanded Purpose Statement for LonMark International to support activities beyond the ISO/IEC 14908.1 standard, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). Other modifications include: • A new member category called a Cooperative Member, that allows LonMark International to exchange memberships with other organizations. • Separates the roles of Board Secretary and Treasurer to support two individuals holding the positions. • Reduces the voting quorum to 25% of the members at a meeting • Eliminates the automatic appointment of a Director by Echelon Corporation and reduces the number of elected Directors from 12 to 9 or three per region. • Gives the Board the ability to appoint people to fill vacancies on the Board. ISDE Automates the Ferroparque’s Building with LonWorks-Based Technologies, Reducing Energy Consumption by 20% and Costs by 25% Ferroparque is an office building located in Queretaro, Mexico, which its owner wanted its four-story building to be completely automated by integrating the security, lighting, access control and air conditioning within each office. While quality was extremely important, keeping project costs down was critical as well, as was the need to use local, Mexican companies, to both install and maintain the system. In the end, the comfort, energy saving and security had to be guaranteed for the workers inside the building.

LonMark International will present the "LonMark Open Smart Streetlight" booth at the next international Light Building show in Frankfurt, Germany, March 13-18, 2016. The LonMark International booth will highlight the only open and interoperable Smart Streetlight on the market. It will showcase outdoor light point controllers from eight different LonMark-certified vendors, all connected to the same powerline network, managed by a single Central Management Software platform from Streetlight.Vision. The following LonMark member companies will be co-exhibiting: Adic, Amko, Apanet, Citylone, Devtech M2M, Echelon, Flashnet, Streetlight.Vision and Vossloh Schwabe. This unique demonstration of interoperability will show how to reduce costs, while enhancing outdoor lighting services in a city by controlling each outdoor lighting asset with light point controllers, networked together on an open communication platform. Light point controllers tested and certified by LonMark International are interoperable, giving the ability to purchase light point controllers from multiple suppliers and mixing them in the field. Unlike other standards that try to unify proprietary systems in single Central Management Software, the open, standard-based approach from LonMark enables to mix devices from multiple suppliers on standardized field networks, the best solution for cities that cannot afford to continue purchasing proprietary control systems.
