Following the success of our last anniversary edition, which was well received at the AHR Expo in New York and at Light Building in Frankfurt, we are now preparing for the next edition of the LonMark magazine in time for distribution at the next AHR Expo in Chicago, Jan. 26-28, 2015. The LonMark Magazine offers LonMark members the opportunity to contribute product or company news, authored articles and case studies. If interested in submitting an article, please submit a 500 word abstract for review no later than Sept. 22, 2014 to shannon@lonmark.org. If accepted, completed articles will be due by Oct. 24, 2014. Update on Task Group ActivitiesThe Automated Food Service equipment task group is working on a new version of the LOV Fryer and is also reviewing the Oil Supply profile as well. These updates are expected to be completed soon and go through the formal profile update process. The AFS group is developing these profiles using the new task group procedures implementing the working group concept for meetings within the task group. This is going well so far, as it streamlines the development meetings and task group efforts. A new sub-meter profile is also being proposed in the BAS task group. Formal task group work on this proposal should start soon. If you are interested, please contact the LonMark technical team to gain project access for this task group profile project. Collaboration ToolTo aid the collaboration of task group activities we are testing the use of Basecamp collaboration tool to share files, ideas and coordinate meetings.

LonMark International is accepting submissions for The "Best of the Year" awards program. The organization will be recognizing companies, projects and individuals in the following areas: the best Multi-Vendor Project, Certified Device, Infrastructure Product and Visionary of the Year. Nominations will be accepted until October 3, 2014. Award winners will be unveiled in the January issue of the LonMark International magazine distributed at the AHR Expo in January. APICE Srl, a well-known Italian company specializing in access control and building automation, recently completed an access control system based on LonWorks technology for Istanbul Subway. The branch expansion of Metro Istanbul Access Control System consists of about 200 gate controllers that manage shutters at station entrances, doors for entering tunnels at the end of a platform, emergency exit doors and doors of station rooms.

The SLMC meets virtually, by phone, monthly and is actively creating a number of deliverables to help promote industry awareness of networked street lighting solutions worldwide. "Well worth it and successful," is how the participants explained the LonMark Deutschland member booth at the Light Building 2014 tradeshow. LonMark Deutschland is planning to have another member pavilion for the upcoming tradeshow, ISH 2015 (March 10-14, 2015 in Frankfurt am Main).
