The 2010 Kansas Legislature adjourned on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The House and Senate passed a budget that was approximately $300 million underfunded. To fill the budget hole, a tax package was passed that included a one-cent sales tax increase beginning July 1, 2010. The sales tax provision is set to roll back to 0.6 cents in 2013. The balance of the sales tax will be earmarked for the state's transportation program.
