KCMPI is helping to make the holiday season sweeter! Please join us as entrepreneur and culinary expert Keri Lauderdale Olson presents the fine art of pairing chocolate and wine on December 17 at Simply Unique Event Venue in Shawnee, Kansas.

Learn everything you ever wanted to know about chocolate and wine, and come away with some basic pairings you can use to create your own sensationally unique event. Each attendee will enjoy five different chocolate and wine pairings. But the fun does not stop there!

An After 5 social and wine pull will be held following the program, featuring a variety of wines donated by Arterra Event Gallery in Lawrence, Kansas. Purchase raffle tickets to win a chance to "pull" a wrapped wine bottle to take home with you. (Raffle tickets can also be purchased online during registration!) The festivities take place on Thursday, December 17 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Keri Lauderdale Olson is the creator and founder of Chocolate Cork (www.thechocolatecork.com), where chocolate meets wine in custom designed chocolate and wine pairing classes and events.

Keri’s lifelong love of chocolate began when her mom started her own small chocolate business. At a young age, Keri learned to temper chocolate and create chocolate houses, suckers and even stained glass chocolate eggs. In later years, on a trip to Sonoma wine country, Keri experienced her first perfect chocolate and wine pairing. She knew in that moment that these two passions – wine and chocolate – were something she wanted to explore and share.

Keri has taught chocolate tasting classes at a local community college as well as in-home wine tasting parties. While many people have attended a wine tasting, few have ever been to a chocolate tasting. Chocolate Cork is a lifelong dream and passion where tasters have fun learning about the history of chocolate, how to taste chocolate (there really is a method!), and get to experience firsthand a quintessential culinary taste sensation.

A Kansas City native, Keri has spent 16 years in the corporate world in Marketing and Product Development. She holds a BSBA from Rockhurst University, is an inventor on multiple patents and has won a national award for developing consumer events. A Lee’s Summit resident, she has raised three sons she is incredibly proud of and in her spare time enjoys cooking for her family and friends.
