Inaugural KCMPI 5K

Despite the rain and intermittent lightning, the inaugural KCMPI 5K – Spring into Summer – was a resounding success! Nearly 40 runners braved the inclement weather to tackle a challenging 3.2-mile course through the rolling hills of Shawnee Mission Park. All who participated were winners, especially 95-year-old Ed Burnham of Leawood, Kansas, who participates in a 5K every weekend. What an inspiration he is!

Another winner was Great Plains SPCA, formerly Animal Haven and No More Homeless Pets KC, which will enjoy part of the proceeds from the race.

Of course, we would not have been so successful without the overwhelming generosity of our sponsors. Many heartfelt thanks to the Olathe Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau, Harrah’s North Kansas City, Proforma US Marketing, the Aloft Hotel Leawood-Overland Park, Midwest Engravers, Distinctive Meetings, Inc., Bob Compton Photography and the Francis Family Foundation.
