KCMPI's Inaugural 5K will be held

Saturday, May 16 at 5 p.m. at

Shawnee Mission Park, Shelter #2

Attention all KCMPI runners, walkers and animal lovers! The inaugural KCMPI 5K – Spring into Summer – will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at Shawnee Mission Park.

The 5K Committee has been working diligently to organize a fun, challenging and enjoyable experience for members and non-members alike. We are heartened by the support received so far from Proforma, The Aloft Hotel Leawood, Distinctive Meetings, Inc., the Francis Family Foundation, Midwest Engravers and Bob Compton Photography. Without our valuable sponsors, we could not hold such a promising, successful event!

But we still need your help! Given the many details involved in organizing a 5K, there are still needs to be filled. All sponsors would receive promotional value on the KCMPI website, a logo on the race T-shirt and the opportunity to place promotional material in the race bag given to each participant.

  1. $100 cash sponsorships
  2. Race-day volunteers to man traffic check points, water station, start/finish line, etc.
  3. Packet pick-up volunteers from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at The Aloft Hotel
  4. Individual with medical training (e.g. doctor, nurse, etc.) to donate time at event in case of emergency
  5. Additional grocery items, such as water, chocolate milk, ice, power bars, fruit, etc. Nothing is too small!
  6. Orange cones (6-8, which can be returned)
  7. Small promotional items to be included in race goody bag

Please help KCMPI celebrate the advent of summer at the inaugural KCMPI 5K – Spring into Summer! Please contact Shari Hockenbery, CMP, at shari@francisfoundation.org or Lynne Fleenor at lynne.fleenor@aloftleawood.com to talk about sponsorship opportunities.

You can also register for the race at shockenbery2.wix.com/kcmpi-5k

Please note that in the spirit of giving back to the community, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Great Plains SPCA, formerly Animal Haven and No More Homeless Pets KC.
