UAVs are generating increased interest as the next "big thing" for aerospace investment. Beyond military and law enforcement applications, UAVs can be put to all types of commercial uses including surveying, mapping, crop dusting, pipe line and power line surveillance, real estate marketing, and filming for the entertainment industry. Asset-based lending aside, the technologies behind UAVs may be one of the key drivers of future investment opportunities.

The chief operating officer has traditionally been the No. 2 person in the C-suite — the senior executive charged with overseeing all of the company’s business operations. As such, the COO has long been viewed as the heir apparent, the leading insider candidate to succeed the chief executive officer. Yet, according to the senior executive search firm Crist Kolder Associates, the percentage of Fortune 500 and S&P 500 companies with a COO has declined steadily from 48 percent in 2000 to 36 percent in 2014.

We’ve all encountered people who say less but what they say matters more; people who know how to use silence to dominate an exchange. So having influence means more than just doing all the talking; it’s about taking charge and understanding the roles that positional power, emotion, expertise, and nonverbal signals play.
