Trump Selects Chao as Transportation Secretary

President-elect Donald Trump has named Elaine Chao to his cabinet as the U.S. Department of Transportation secretary. Chao previously served as deputy secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush and as secretary of labor under President George W. Bush. Born in Taiwan, Chao is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, and she is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky). When serving as DOT deputy secretary, Chao played an important role in the development of the ISTEA transportation bill, which included a half-cent per gallon fuel tax increase.
