The Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standards were updated last November. The new standards, now called Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL), outline what states need to consider as they implement changes instituted by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Join NASBE as Cortney Rowland from American Institutes for Research and Kelly Pollitt from the National Association of Elementary School Principals discuss the similarities and differences between ISLLC and PSEL, highlight the most recent research on principal effectiveness, and explain how state boards of education can implement the new PSEL standards under ESSA to build leadership capacity in schools.
